The Mid Wales Rhythm and Blues Club are back with The Achievers plus special guest Bluesman Mike Francis The Achievers are one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed bands on the UK roots music scene. With a reputation for innovation and originality they prove that soul, groove and song-craft still matter in the blues. In less than 18 months their own brand of modern, ‘dancefloor gospel-blues’ has catapulted them from near-complete obscurity to rave reviews and big-stage appearances across the world. Bluesman Mike Francis was recently involved with a national project to broaden audience engagement for the Blues genre and as a former finalist himself, became UK events coordinator for the European Blues Awards 2016 -18. Since 2015 Mike has also co-organised Manchester Blues Festival and having first toured Europe decades ago has performed at International Blues Music Day Croatia, Guitar Festival of Great Britain, BBC 6 Music Festival, Acoustic Festival GB & hosted ’30 Years of Colne’ at Great British R&B Festival 2019.
